Typing Spree!

Today my husband started his summer job, so I had the house all to myself save Klinger, Mushu, and Atticus.  Klinger was no issue - she's a snake, she just sleeps under her log - but I did have to entertain the dogs from time to time.  Regardless I am almost at the 30k mark on "Heartbound", and this one is definitely turning into one of those "all ages fantasy epics".  It is NOT going to be a short book, so hopefully young fantasy fans who never want the world to end will gobble it up when it is finished!

I'm also currently sitting at 94 likes on Facebook, and I'll be hosting a giveaway when I reach 100.  I hope the winner can appreciate my rather twisted sense of humor.  :)  The only clues I have given to what the prize will be so far is that it is for either men or women, it has nothing to do with Wonderstruck or any of my writing (I have nothing to give away yet for those, unfortunately), it does not have anything to do with pirates or ninjas, and it might serve as inspiration for conveying emotions for someone's next novel.  Also, since I realized that I have been dead silent about what both of my stories in Wonderstruck are even about, I'll be posting previews tomorrow on Facebook as well. (Don't worry, Rebecca, I won't give too much away.  ;) )

Unless my insomnia continues, which I hope it does not, I'll have to take an active writing break tomorrow to start developing the guide for the back of "Heartbound" for the locations, terms, and characters.  For young readers especially, and for many books in the fantasy genre, it can sometimes be very difficult to keep everything straight, and I love authors who are kind enough to put these guides in the back of their longer works.  They certainly have come in handy, especially when I have to put a book down for a few days and find myself wondering "who was that minor character again?".

So tomorrow looks like a very busy day in the marketing and paperwork department!  Don't forget to support Clean Teen Publishing's Oklahoma fundraiser, which I posted about yesterday!

Clean Teen Publishing Donating ALL Profits to Oklahoma Victims

Just received word that Clean Teen Publishing is donating 100% of their profits over the next three days to the victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes.  Please feel free to contact the publisher at their Facebook page (the previous link) or at http://www.cleanteenpublishing.com/ with any questions about their donation process or for any other ways you can help.

Qualifying books (hopefully I get them all):

Concealed in the Shadows

Project ELE  (currently free, first in the series to the following books)
Finding ELE
Exposing ELE
Surviving ELE
Night Marchers  (currently free, first in the series to the following book)
Redemption (Night Marchers 2)

This is a great time to buy some new YA e-books for donating to libraries, as gifts, or anything else you can think of.  Please share and link this as much as possible so that hopefully a very, very big donation will be going out!

A Terrible, Awful, No Good, Very Bad Day

A little over a month ago, I was glued to the T.V., stuck in South Dakota and waiting for news about my little sister.  She was running in the Boston Marathon, and typically finished in 4 hours, ten minutes.  She'd kept that time almost to the second for the past two years.

The time on the clock when the first bomb went off was 4:09:43, and the second bomb went off at 4:09:57.

I'm happy to say that she had finished the race early and was a block away on Newbury Street when the attacks happened, but today, watching the devastation in Oklahoma, I'm brought back to that day and cannot help but feel for everyone both there and around the country who are scared and feeling helpless as they wait to hear about the fate of loved ones.  It is at the same time the most terrifying and empty feeling in the world, as you watch and wait, and can do nothing.

I ask everyone to keep the people affected by the tornadoes, not only those who were in their path but all of those who are still waiting to hear about those that they are missing, in their thoughts, prayers, and duas tonight.  It is going to be a very long and scary few days for thousands upon thousands of people, and though there is little that we can do to give them answers, the least we can do is offer them what support we can.

As always when these things happen, please be very careful in donating to charities that are set up to help the victims and their families at this time.  Make sure you do your research first, because sad to say there are unscrupulous people who will use this to personally profit rather than give the donations where they are needed.

If you are looking for a loved one in Oklahoma tonight, please check Safe And Well.Org for their registrants list, and try to keep the phone lines clear for first responders and emergency personnel.

PUBLISHED!!!!!

My novella "Heartkeeper" and a short story called "Peace" were both selected for inclusion in Clean Teen Publishing's anthology, "Wonderstruck"!  They are also interested in seeing the first book of "Heartkeeper" as a series, so for the time being, "Felriver" has to take a back seat because I am going to be busting my hump to finish Book One (currently called "Heartbound") by the middle of June.

Please drop by the virtual release party on Facebook, May 31st from 7-11 PM Central Standard Time.  Lots of goodies to be given away and you can meet all the authors!
